Help a Wheelchair Athlete Attend the PTR Championships!

Hilton Head Tennis- Emmy Kaiser has been playing in the PTR Wheelchair Championships since 2005

Help more wheelchair athletes make the trip to Hilton Head this year!

Here is an opportunity to help a wheelchair tennis player make the trip to Hilton Head in October to play in our great tournament.  The PTR has received some requests from players who would like to attend but need financial assistance. The PTR Foundation, contributes $ 9,000- $ 10,000 every year just to put on the Wheelchair Tournament.  Scholarships for the athletes are needed from outside donations.

Participating in the tournament with others who are in the same situation in life is a very uplifting experience for these athletes.  Please consider making a donation to help out!

Please click HERE to read more about this opportunity which was sent to us by tournament director Julie Jilly.

Tips from the Pros
Royce Silvan

The lowcountry area has an incredible group of teaching pro’s and programs.  Many still play competitive tennis and have a love for the sport that inspires players to improve- both young and old.  We will be featuring their tips and thoughts on tennis here at the Tennis E-News.  Our first tip was provided by Royce Silvan, Tennis Director at Indigo Run.

WHY DO I LOVE THIS SPORT?

1. It’s a sport I can play all my life, from childhood until 90 yrs old.

2. I have met my best friends in life on the tennis court.

3. It keeps me physically active, stronger and younger.

4. It keeps me mentally active, sharper and stimulated.

5. It gets me out of the house and gives me something to do.

6. It’s a great way to release stress; physical and emotional.

7. It teaches me life-learning lessons; winning and losing.
Learn how to be a humble winner and a gracious loser.

8. To accept and conquer the challenges that each match presents.
Dealing with many scenarios beyond my control.

9. I can play with my friends, my spouse, my children, my grandchildren, my parents, a business partner.

10. I am able to have FUN with others, laugh together
and even at my self by not being so serious.

11. No matter what level I am today, I can always learn a new shot
and/ or improve a little more my overall game.

12. I just can’t think of a better sport.
Tennis is Life and Life is Tennis!

I hope tennis has brought you as many blessings as it has brought me. Royce
