Great Tennis and Fun at the Captain Woody’s Fall Tennis Classic

Hilton Head Tennis- Captain Woody's Fall Tennis ClassicThe late afternoon showers on Saturday delayed a few matches, but it did not put a damper on the fun and tennis at the first Captain Woody’s Fall Classic at Palmetto Dunes.  There was also a party for the players Saturday night at Captain Woody’s with rockin’ entertainment provided by Jenifer Witmer and the Chiggers.

Moss Creek Wins USTA Facility Award

Hilton Head Tennis- Tom Ruth Accepts USTA Facility award

Tom Ruth accepts USTA Facility Award in NYC last weekend

Congratulations to Moss Creek Tennis Center and its Director of Tennis, Tom Ruth, for being one of 13 winners of a USTA Facility Award last Sunday at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City at the USTA semi-annual meeting.  Of the 13 recipients, Moss Creek is one of only six private tennis centers to win.

This award recognizes Moss Creek for its outstanding courts and court amenities, including its $ 120,000 2015 expansion.  Other factors included Moss Creek’s participation in USTA Leagues, tournaments, and its charitable events and causes.  Moss Creek and its members host the Special Olympics Pro-Am, which has raised over $ 20,000 for Special Olympics Area 8.  They also raise about $30,000 each year through a tennis and golf event that supports “Marines in Harms Way.”

USTA Tri-Level is Back This Fall

Tri-Level, USTA’s newest league, is back for its second season this Fall.  This socially competitive league is a great way to enjoy the camaraderie of friends in the ultimate team experience.  In Tri-Level a match consists of three courts of doubles of three different levels.  For example,  in the adult 40 & Over flight, a match will consist of a 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 court.

Are you looking for a way to play on a team with your friends? Or did you have trouble getting enough people together for a USTA team last Spring?  Tri- Level may be just the league for you!

In our area, the league will be coordinated out of the CCTA by Jonathan Watkins.
