Local Teams Play Well at Southern 55’s Sectionals

Hilton Head Tennis- Hilton Head Loves Tennis has weekly USTA ResultsThe Southern USTA Sectionals for the 55 and over divisions were held in Asheville, South Carolina last weekend.  There were five teams from our area that competed.

The Men’s and Women’s 9.0 teams did particularly well. John Brittis’s– Brittis 9.0 team won and will be advancing.  The PD Together Again 9.0 team, co-captained by Cindy Vanderberg and Lori Bergmann came in second to a strong team from Alabama.  This was a repeat of their second place finish from last year, and the third year in a row this team has made the sectionals!

Other teams from the area that competed included Bob Baity’s 3.0 Belfair team, Tom Kendall’s 4.0 Hampton Lakers, and Monty Koffman’s 3.0 team, Take Two, whose only loss was to the eventual division champions from Arkansas.

Congratulations to all who made it! And good luck to the 9.0 Men as they advance!

USTA Tri-Level is Back This Fall

Tri-Level, USTA’s newest league, is back for its second season this Fall.  This socially competitive league is a great way to enjoy the camaraderie of friends in the ultimate team experience.  In Tri-Level a match consists of three courts of doubles of three different levels.  For example,  in the adult 40 & Over flight, a match will consist of a 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 court.

Are you looking for a way to play on a team with your friends? Or did you have trouble getting enough people together for a USTA team last Spring?  Tri- Level may be just the league for you!

In our area, the league will be coordinated out of the CCTA by Jonathan Watkins.
